Across the globe, Telecom operators are cursed by millions of consumers( with high data usage habits) for
- not providing the promised speeds they paid money for,
- throttling the data speeds ,
- Fair Usage Policies(FUPs) ,
- Lack of unlimited data plans,
Even if you see in India, all the Telecom operator offer internet speeds on dongles upto 21mbps. But one will find complaints about the lack of minimum required browsing speeds.
I see this as an opportunity for a telecom operator to reposition their data offering.
1) Commit minimum speeds saying your speed will never fall below x Mbps and stick to that service level instead of offering high data speeds which are never realised.
2) Have a Fair Usage Policy(FUP) that does not count the data usage in the lower browsing speeds.
